甚麼是拿細耳人的原則？就是自願的奉獻。神在舊約是揀選了以色列人作為祂的選民，並要他們成為祭司的國度。然而，因以色列人的失敗，神揀選了利未支派代替以色列人來事奉，但只是亞倫家被選任為祭司。除此以外，神在民數記第六章，仍豫備了一篇補充，為了『以防萬一』，萬一亞倫家也失敗了，神還有一扇邊門作應變措施，所以拿細耳人的願就此產生了。
